Caribbean Focus

"My son has traveled throughout the Caribbean, Hawaii, beaches on all coasts, but never the BVI. He absolutely loved it there. He has commented that nothing can compare to the night sky, the meteor showers, the full moon lighting the ocean 30 feet under the water."
Karen Volino, Salt Point, NY

Our long-standing relationships with the local communities in the Caribbean are a major source of pride. In addition to our Caribbean sailing camps, we have teamed up with two respected organizations to broaden our offerings to students:

  • The Island School and Cape Eleuthera Institiute in the Bahamas which provides real-world knowledge through hands-on marine science experience.
  • The Wildlife Conservation Society in Belize to give you the chance to work with experts on research projects to protect endangered sea turtles and jaguars.

We are also proud to have our own year-round dive operation, Sail Caribbean Divers, headquartered at our base in Tortola.  Focusing on the Caribbean means we know the ins and outs of each island better. Mike Liese, our Founder and Director, spends the entire summer in the Caribbean, ensuring that our programs run smoothly. Our Cultural Director, Delly Harrigan, an islander and lifelong resident of the Caribbean who helped found Sail Caribbean 30 years ago, gives our staff and students a better understanding of the Caribbean way of life.

Not just the best place in the Caribbean… four of them!

Whichever Sail Caribbean adventure you choose, you'll visit one of the world's premier tropical destinations. The British Virgin Islands, Leeward Islands, Windward Islands and Bahamas all have their own unique charms, but all share crystal-clear water, sunny skies, and steady tradewinds. Belize, with over 300 miles of stunning Caribbean coast and spectacular reef and cayes, is the perfect setting for exploration and adventure! If you choose the Eleuthera program, you and your land-based team will experience the unique beauty of Cape Eleuthera in the Bahamas and live an eco-friendly lifestyle at The Island School. On all our other programs your boat is your wandering home, your "neighbors" are the other boats in your fleet, and together you'll traverse a sailor's paradise.
